Details of Disappearance
Edward Ratynski was last seen by his neighbor on December 13, 2007, leaving his residence in the Town of Fallsburg, Sullivan County, N. Y. He may have been going to a nearby body of water to check the thickness of the ice for fishing. Ratynski does not have a vehicle, and there has been activity on his bank account since the date he went missing.

Delaware River search isn't only case of missing anglers

SOUTH FALLSBURG, N.Y. — A nearly five-hour search of Conklin Pond on Tuesday failed to turn up any signs of a 53-year-old Goshen, N.Y. man who has been missing since December.Edward A. Ratynski Jr. had been living in a boardinghouse less than a mile from the pond in South Fallsburg for about three months, his daughter reported at the time of his disappearance.
Ratynski, an avid fisherman who was disabled, is believed to have gone to check the ice-fishing conditions Dec. 12. He hasn't been seen since and was reported missing Dec. 18.
Search efforts in December and January were hampered by ice in the pond and a heavy snowpack in the woods.
State police divers searched the pond.
Other officers combed a wooded area around Ratynski's residence on La Vista Drive, with four state police dogs and a Fallsburg police K-9 unit.
A state police helicopter also joined the search, buzzing overhead.
State police said they will continue to follow leads, an investigator said. Authorities have no immediate plans for another search.
Two New Jersey men are still missing after being swept away in the Delaware River near Dingmans Ferry on April 3. Divers searched the deep, murky water throughout last week.
One man swam to safety after the group's boat capsized.
