Families of missing 12 cling to hope, seek answers

Out of the 12 people reported missing to local authorities, three are teenage girls who are believed to have run away.

****  Jenna Love was 16 when she went missing March 11 from the Hawthorne Cedar Knolls Residential Treatment Center, Mount Pleasant police said. She has run away before, said police, who declined to provide details. Jenna, who wears glasses, may be in New York City and could need medical attention. ****

Haverstraw police are searching for 16-year-old Vanessa Molina and 15-year-old Deziree Jackson. Vanessa went missing April 20 while staying with family members and could be in North Carolina, traveling with her boyfriend.

Since police began investigating, Vanessa contacted her mother “saying she didn’t want to return home and there would be no need to look for her,” Haverstraw police Lt. Martin Lund said. Police want to make sure she is safe. Vanessa has a tattoo of “Marina” on her lower back and of a butterfly on her left hip.

Deziree Jackson went missing Jan. 10 and could be in the Yonkers area. Lund said police have received conflicting reports about whether she has contacted family members since her disappearance. She has braces and a tongue piercing.
